Valley of the Butterflies
From mid June until mid of September, thousands of butterflies of the genus Panaxia (species Quadripunctaria Poda) swarm into the valley in order to reproduce. A lovely & peaceful walk through the shaded, green valley with its small river and the beautiful waterfalls.
After the Valley of Butterflies Valley, you are heading to the local family owned vineyard and winery. Walk around the vineyard, listen to the owner talking about his indigenous and international varietals and explaining how wine is produced.
Then, sit at the large veranda having the vineyard in front of you. Taste the wines with cold cuts & cheese or have a lunch (upon request, extra cost) with plenty of local dishes, such as greek salad, feta cheese, eggplant salad, meat balls, chickpeas pies (pittaroudia), tzatziki, fresh fried potatoes, pumpkin balls, all cooked with Greek olive oil.
You can buy bottles of wines with labels not found in the market, exclusively made for the winery’s visitors.
