Stretching across the Jundu Mountains, it served as a vital defensive outpost and a strategic pass along the ancient Guangou Path. Historically renowned for its impregnability, it was said that “the peril of Juyong Pass lies not in the pass itself but in Badaling,” underscoring its military importance. First constructed during the Qin Dynasty (221–206 BCE) and extensively reinforced during the Ming Dynasty (1368–1644), this section exemplifies China’s architectural prowess and historical resilience.
