Are you ready to turn your hobbies into a business?
If you are done with the highlights of Budapest and want to see something more off the beaten track, I invite you on this singular journey into the southern districts of Buda (New Buda and Budafok).
We start by visiting one of the most unique churches of the city: the cave church, hewn into Mount Gellert, which has a fairly recent history.
We continue with a one-of-a-kind dwelling place: a cave dwelling turned into a small museum, still inhabited a few decades ago. Prior alignment for this place is required. As such this may not work with a last minute booking.
We finish our journey with the Zaborszky wine cellar/catacomb, which is part of an extensive cella...

Itinerary
1
Gellért Hill Cave
The Cave Church in Budapest is one of the most unique religious sites of the city built in the 30' by the only Hungarian monastic order: the Paulines. It was closed down during communism to be reopened after the Fall.
30 minutes
2
Barlanglakás emlékmúzeum
This cave dwelling is a unique little museum tucked away in the southern district of Budapest and is the last one of its kind that can be visited. It is a testimony to how workers lived here in the late 19th early 20th centuries.
45 minutes
3
Zaborszky Kuria - Borvaros
Once part of a huge cellar system spawning throughout the southern part of Buda (today Budafok, formerly Promontor), this cellar still functions today as a visitor and events center, museum, restaurant and wine cellar. Beyond just simply visiting it, you can optionally also have lunch or a wine tastings here. Our focus lies with the museum part.
