2
Bruges
After a safe and scenic drive from Paris to northern Belgium, you’ll arrive in the medieval centre of Bruges, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its canals, cobbled streets and beautifully preserved Flemish façades. Follow your guide on a walking tour through the old town before enjoying free time to explore on your own, have lunch and discover the city at your own pace.
3
The Markt
Visit Market Square, the lively heart of Bruges, lined with colourful guild houses, cafés and bustling terraces. It’s one of the best places to feel the city’s everyday rhythm, from passing locals and visitors to horse-drawn carriages and open-air cafés.
4
Belfry of Bruges
Then turn your eyes to the Belfry, the tower that dominates the square and once served as Bruges’ main watchtower and symbol of power. Your guide will point out its key features and share stories about its role in medieval life, as well as show you where to find some of the most famous fry stands (frietkoten) if you’d like to try authentic Belgian fries.
5
The Princely Beguinage Ten Wijngaarde
A peaceful complex of whitewashed houses and a quiet green courtyard founded in 1245. Once home to Beguines – independent laywomen who lived a devout but unmarried life – it is now inhabited by Benedictine nuns and a few Bruges women. Your guide will explain the history of the beguinage and why it is part of UNESCO’s protected heritage. It’s an oasis of calm just a short walk from the canals and one of the most atmospheric places in Bruges.
6
Quai du Rosaire / Rozenhoedkaai
Stop at Rozenhoedkaai, one of the most photographed viewpoints in Bruges, where canals, façades, trees and bridges form a perfect postcard scene. From here you can really understand why Bruges is called the “Venice of the North.”
7
Minnewater Lake
Then continue towards the Lake of Love (Minnewater), a romantic lake with swans and historic buildings that once formed the old harbour of medieval Bruges. Both spots are ideal moments for photos and for simply soaking up the city’s atmosphere before or after your free time.
