Cultural Stops: Carpet Weaving & Leather Craftsmanship
As part of our tour, we will visit two unique local workshops that reflect the rich cultural and economic heritage of Cappadocia.
Our first stop will be at a renowned carpet weaving cooperative, where you’ll witness the traditional art of Turkish carpet making — a practice deeply rooted in the region’s history along the ancient Silk Road. Local women continue to hand-weave carpets using techniques passed down for generations, preserving a craft that is both artistic and symbolic.
We will also visit a leather processing workshop — reflecting the region’s strong ties to animal husbandry. Here, you’ll explore the leather factory and enjoy a short fashion show featuring locally produced leather goods. This stop offers a modern twist on traditional craftsmanship, showcasing the blend of culture, skill, and contemporary design.
These offer insight into the living traditions that continue to shape everyday life in Cappadocia.
