Itinerary
1
San Carlos de Bariloche
an Carlos de Bariloche (commonly called Bariloche) is a city in the Argentine Patagonia region. It borders Nahuel Huapi, a large glacial lake surrounded by mountains in the Andes. Bariloche is known for its Swiss alpine-style architecture and its chocolate, which is sold in shops on Miter Street, the main avenue. It is also a popular base for hiking and skiing in the nearby mountains, and for exploring the surroundings of the Lake District.
2
Limay River
on Route 237 heading to Neuquén, crossing the bridge of Lake Nahuel Huapi, and next to the rise of the Limay River is the historic place reached by Perito Moreno on January 22, 1876. He was the first Argentine to sight the great lake Nahuel Huapi also called "Big Pot" by the natives. The journey continues along the Limay River until it reaches the great Amphitheater, a natural formation of glaciological origin that resembles a Roman Circus.
3
Villa Traful
Above the same route – later on – is the Enchanted Valley with its immense and strange rock formations surrounding Confluence. There, the Limay River meets the Traful River and if we deviate west we reach Villa Traful. This village is a small mountain village surrounded by wonderful scenery. The Mirador of Lake Traful offers us a superb view of the surroundings. The road to these places shows a transition between steppe and forest, caverns, some Patagonian stays, but also the flora and fauna of the place are observed. If the journey begins in the morning, the arrival at Villa Traful offers the occasion for lunch and the continuation of the tour with the visit to Puerto Arrayán and El Portezuelo.
4
Villa La Angostura
Finally, the section of the Seven Lakes Route, which takes us to Villa La Angostura is the option to return to Bariloche.
Villa La Angostura is a tourist town on Lake Nahuel Huapi in Argentine Patagonia. It is known for its Alpine-style wooden buildings. The surrounding Nahuel Huapi National Park has Andean mountains, lakes and forests. Nearby is the Los Arrayanes National Park that houses this species of tree centuries ago. The ski slopes of Cerro Bayo are located just outside the city. The Seven Lakes road winds north towards the city of San Martin de los Andes.
