The prang stands out with doors on all four sides and is topped with a distinctive wooden gable roof. Inside the ubosot, the main attraction is the revered Buddha image known as 'Phra Si Samanagot Bophit.' Located just outside the eastern end of the ancient city of Ayutthaya, Wat Maheyong, a Buddhist monastery, remains in a state of ruins despite undergoing multiple restoration efforts throughout its history. Constructed in the 15th century, it was likely designed as a meditation center, and its red brick walls are still visible from a distance. Designated as a national historical site by Thailand's "Fine Arts Department," the monastery's ordination hall (ubosot) serves as a venue for religious ceremonies, with Buddhist monks actively encouraged to officiate during auspicious periods.
