The lagoon has an intense emerald green color and transparency that reflects the vastness of the surrounding mountains. It tells the sad story of a beautiful Inca princess who, when she died, her husband deposited the body of his beloved in the bed of the lagoon, turning the color of the waters to emerald green, like the eyes of the princess.
