Chion-ji Temple
Chionji Temple - Bunshudo (Temple for Academic Prayers)
Chionji enshrines the Seishi Bodhisattva, the deity of wisdom, similar to the Chinese God of Culture. Chionji boasts the largest mountain gate in the Tango region. What makes it unique is the fan-shaped fortune papers. When hung upside down, the fan paper gradually transforms from narrow to wide, symbolizing progress. The nearby rotating bridge connects Amanohashidate and Bunshudo on land. It rotates 90 degrees to allow passage for large vessels (non-scheduled). (Free admission)
Come and enjoy the beautiful sandbar at Amanohashidate beach.
Amanohashidate's sandbar has white sandy beaches on both sides. The soft, fine sand provides a pleasant walk in the pine forests, admiring various types and shapes of pine trees.
