Except for two, these lakes contain rainwater, thus are important for resident and migratory water birds. Wilpattu National park is an ideal location to spot Sri Lanka’s big five. Elephants, Sri Lankan Leopard, Sloth Bear, Crocodiles and water buffaloes.
