Makola Market was constructed in Accra in 1924 and stood at the heart of the urban Ghanaian life. This market is the main wholesale and retail marketplace in Accra, the epicenter of trade in the country and one of the nation's most important social and cultural institutions.

National Museum of Ghana
Founded in 1957, the National Museum of Ghana is the largest and oldest of the six museums under the administration of the Ghana Museums and Monuments Board. The museum has three primary collection areas; archaeology, ethnography, and art, which are used to weave together a story about Ghana's rich cultural history.
Objects range in age from the Stone Age to the recent past, and include indigenous Ghanaian musical instruments, beads, traditional textiles, furniture and pottery.
