Saadani National Park is truly unique because it’s right on the Indian Ocean. The beautiful white sand beaches are stunning but you’re more likely to see lions or elephant on the beach than sunbathers. A wide range of grazing animals are commonly seen on game drives and walks through Saadani National Park. These include giraffe, buffalo, warthog, waterbuck, reedbuck, hartebeest, wildebeest, greater kudu, eland, sable, yellow baboon and vervet monkey along with herds of elephant and many other creatures of all sizes.

Saadani National Tips
After breakfast you’ll be picked up from your hotel in Dar Es Salaam and driven to Saadani National Park which is about a two hour drive away. On the way you’ll be able to see local villages, historical attractions and rivers including the Wami River where we’ll get on the dirt road to the park.
ARRIVAL AT SAADANI NATIONAL PARK FOR GAME DRIVE:-Expect the unexpected is a good rule for your game drive in Saadani. You never know what you’ll see but your guide will be looking out for land animals like elephant, lion, giraffe, buffalo, zebra, waterbuck and sable antelope and birds like the African hornbill.
There’s a good chance of spotting hippo, crocodile and a selection of marine and riverine birds, including the mangrove kingfisher and lesser flamingo, on stretches of the Wami River, and although they’re usually only spotted at dawn or dusk, the beaches here are one of the last major green turtle breeding sites on mainland Tanzania.
