On the first day of the itinerary, you will begin with the drive from Moshi to Machame Gate (5,381ft) which takes approximately 45 minutes.
The Machame Gate is starting point of the climb which is located at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro.This entrance point lies high above the Machame Village in the south and it takes 5-7 hours of steep ascent from Machame Gate (5,381ft) to Machame Camp (9,301ft) with only 8-9 hours of sleep.
