Chinese Fishing Nets
The Chinese fishing nets, locally known as "Cheena Vala"are fixed installations on the sea shore for an unusual form of fishing — shore operated lift nets. They are mostly found around Kochi in the Indian state of Kerala. Large mechanical structure is at least 10 m high and comprises a cantilever net suspended over the sea and big stones suspended from ropes as counterweights at the other end. Each of these structures is operated by a team of up to six fishermen.

Nestled in a quiet part of Jew Town, the Paradesi Synagogue dates back over a century and is home to numerous rare antiques. Almost 1500 years after the Jews first established ties with Kerala, the Jewish synagogue was constructed in 1568. It was constructed on property donated by the former Cochin ruler, which is next to Mattancherry Palace.
The Jewish community of Cochin constructed the synagogue, which is the oldest in the Commonwealth.
In various Indian languages, the word Paradesi refers to a foreigner. It speaks about White Jews, a mixed group of Jews from Europe, the Middle East, and Kodungalloor.
