Cusco – Piscacucho KM 82 – Ayapata

At 4:30 am, we’ll pick you up from your hotel in Cusco and begin a 2.5-hour scenic drive to KM 82, the starting point of the trek. As we travel through the Sacred Valley, enjoy views of the lush landscape and towering mountains.

Ollantaytambo
Upon arrival, we’ll have a light breakfast to fuel our adventure ahead. After breakfast, we will start hiking along the ancient Inca Trail. This first segment is relatively gentle, offering an opportunity to ease into the trek while taking in breathtaking views of the Sacred Valley.

Inca Trail
Along the trail, we’ll visit two important Inca archaeological sites, each one rich in history and mystery. Your guide will share fascinating stories about these sites and their significance to Inca culture. After approximately five hours of hiking, we’ll stop for a refreshing lunch. Our chef will prepare a nutritious meal to help you recharge for the next leg of the hike.

Campamento de Ayapata
After lunch, we’ll tackle a steep ascent, hiking for another two hours to our first campsite at Ayapata (3,300 meters / 10,826 feet). Upon arrival, the camp will be set up, and you’ll have time to relax, enjoy some snacks, and prepare for a restful night. After dinner, you'll enjoy a cozy night in your Eureka tents, complete with sleeping bags, liners, and heating bags to ensure comfort at high altitude.
