6 Stops
1
Poi Kalyan Mosque
What you’ll see and do:
One of Bukhara’s most famous landmarks — the Kalyan Minaret (built in 1127) was once the tallest building in Central Asia and guided caravans along the Silk Road.
You’ll explore the Kalyan Mosque, still active today, and admire the intricate tilework of Mir-i-Arab Madrassah (viewed from outside, as it’s an active religious school).
Your guide will share stories about its architectural genius and historical importance.
40 minutes
2
Ark of Bukhara
What you’ll see and do:
This ancient royal citadel was the residence of Bukhara’s Emirs for over a thousand years. Inside, travelers can explore small museums displaying royal artifacts, ancient weapons, and the Emir’s court rooms. The fortress walls and watchtowers offer panoramic views of the old city.
50 minutes
3
Lyabi House Hotel
What you’ll see and do:
This beautiful square is the heart of Old Bukhara — surrounded by madrassahs and shaded by mulberry trees. Travelers can enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, see the 16th-century Kukeldash Madrassah, and take photos by the reflecting pool (“Hauz” means pond).
Your guide will explain how the complex became a key social hub during the Silk Road period.
40 minutes
4
Moschea Bolo-khauz
What you’ll see and do:
Located across from the Ark Fortress, this elegant mosque (18th century) is known for its carved wooden pillars and reflective pond. Travelers can take photos of its stunning architecture and visit the interior prayer hall if open.
20 minutes
5
Chor Minor Madrasah
What you’ll see and do:
A small yet unique 19th-century structure famous for its four blue-domed towers — each with different decorations. Your guide will explain its unusual design and hidden symbolism. There’s a small handicraft shop inside where you can climb to the rooftop for a panoramic view (optional).
20 minutes
6
Taqi-Zargaron
What you’ll see and do:
You’ll walk through three covered domes that once hosted Silk Road merchants. Today, they’re filled with stalls selling handmade carpets, jewelry, ceramics, and souvenirs. Your guide will explain the history of trade in medieval Bukhara and give you time for shopping or photography.
