The abundance of nature, wildlife, and history make Las Verapaces a not-to-miss destination when you visit Guatemala. When thinking about this exquisite location made up of two departments -Alta Verapaz & Baja Verapaz- it is hard to choose the most beautiful spot. The landscapes of this region are full of green, turquoise, and orange colors that you´ll be able to see when visiting Hun-Nal-Ye and Semuc Champey, two natural wonders with turquoise waters surrounded by green forest, not to mention the jaw-dropping sunsets that can be seen. Guatemala is classified as a megadiverse country; in this small land, we have a wide variety of birds, flowers, trees, and mammals that find a house here. Dur...

Semuc Champey
This enchanting place truly feels like a slice of paradise right here on Earth. To fully grasp its existence, you must witness it firsthand. Semuc Champey was officially declared a natural monument in 2005, and it's nothing short of breathtaking. Imagine a 300-meter-long stone bridge that cradles multiple crystalline, turquoise-colored pools.
Immerse yourself in the refreshing, enchanted waters while basking in the embrace of a humid subtropical climate. The name "Semuc Champey" comes from the Mayan people of the Q'eqchi ethnicity, and it translates to "Where the river hides." It's an apt name, as the Cahabón River flows discreetly beneath this natural bridge, nourishing the stunning pools.
