This peaceful and relatively untouched harbor is known for its natural beauty, rich birdlife, and tranquil atmosphere, offering a perfect escape for nature lovers and those looking to experience a more serene side of the Coromandel.
The harbor is characterized by its expansive mudflats, sandbanks, and tidal channels, which change dramatically with the ebb and flow of the tides. The water is calm and shallow, making it ideal for kayaking, paddleboarding, and boating. At low tide, the exposed mudflats attract a variety of wading birds, including the endangered New Zealand dotterel, which nests in the area.
