Koutammakou, le pays des Batammariba
Start your day early with a convenient pick-up right from your location. After you are picked up, we will drive you to Kara, where you will enjoy a delicious lunch. From there, we will continue to Koutammakou, the land of the Batammariba people in northern Togo. The Batammariba are originally from Burkina Faso, where they were forced to flee tribal wars in the 11th century. They eventually followed the Attakora mountain range and settled in the northern Togo.
Here, you will be able to admire their distinctive traditional architecture, including the famous Tata houses, which were built for both protection and communal living. As you explore Koutammakou, you will learn about the Batammariba’s rich cultural heritage, their ancient traditions, and their deep connection to the land. Their way of life, shaped by centuries of history, continues to thrive in this remarkable region.
After your visit, we will drive you back to Kara, where you can finally relax in your hotel.
