Departure from Cusco to the Sacred Valley, visiting Pisac and Ollantaytambo to explore Inca ruins, local markets, and stunning Andean landscapes.

Pisac
Nestled in the Andes Mountains, about 30 miles northeast of Cusco, the Inca ruins of Pisac are a spectacular sight. These ruins, dating from 1100-1400 AD, feature stone temples, tombs, terraces, and ceremonial structures. Pisac, a key religious and administrative center for the Incas, was a site of spiritual significance and a hub for tax collection and trade.

Urubamba
Next, we'll proceed to Urubamba for a sumptuous buffet lunch. This region, renowned for its fertile soil, grows a variety of crops like corn, potatoes, barley, and fruits. The local gastronomy offers unique dishes such as cuy (guinea pig), chicharrón (deep-fried pork), and chiriuchu, a traditional mix of various ingredients.

Archaeological Park Ollantaytambo
Post-lunch, our tour leads to Ollantaytambo, an ancient Incan ruin in the Sacred Valley. Built around 1450 AD during Emperor Pachacuti's reign, this site features terraces, temples, baths, palaces, and plazas. Ollantaytambo's most remarkable feature is its large stone walls, assembled without mortar, showcasing the Incan architectural prowess.
After exploring Ollantaytambo, we'll board a train to Aguas Calientes.
