In this workshop, you will be getting your hands on making your very own tote bag using a traditional stencil dyeing technique called Katazome. The technique was first developed as an inexpensive way to dye kimonos and other textiles. It has since evolved into a respected art form in its own right, and is well known for allowing versatility and a great amount of artistic expression. While doing so, you will get a chance to have a meaningful conversation with an artist who is dedicating her life to pursuing art here in Kanazawa.
Overall process of the workshop is as follows:
1. Design, draw, and cut your own paper stencils (called Katagami in Japanese)
