At a historic temple, join a traditional ritual and learn about Japanese Buddhism from the resident monk. It’s a peaceful moment to gain a deeper understanding of temple life and ask your own questions.

We'll take a short scenic lift ride to the mountaintop. From the observation deck, enjoy a panoramic view of Lake Biwa — Japan’s largest freshwater lake — stretching out below. This spot is available from May to November.

Enjoy a lunch at recommended restaurants you can choose; sushi & noodle meal, soba or original Japanese meal. After the lunch, stroll through a well-preserved Edo-period post town. I’ll share local stories and legends that reveal how people here have lived for centuries in connection with the lake.

We’ll finish the tour at a local sake brewery, where you can sample a few varieties of regional sake and learn how it reflects the area’s pure water and traditions.
