Interior vaulting and evolved layout after 1902 reorientation.

One of the distinctive religious buildings in Staunton’s Gospel Hill Historic District, a rare example of Moorish Revival architecture locally.
History & Architecture:
Congregation founded in 1876; current synagogue completed in 1925.
Designed by local architect Sam Collins of T.J. Collins & Sons in Moorish Revival style, uncommon among American synagogues.
Features notable Mercer tile work and six Charles Connick stained-glass windows.
