The Santa Barbara Public Library's Central Building, a Spanish Colonial Revival landmark, began with a Carnegie grant-funded design by Henry Hornbostel (with local Francis Wilson), opening in 1917, then reconstructed by Carleton Winslow after the 1925 earthquake, with the Art Deco Faulkner Gallery (by Myron Hunt) added in 1930, culminating in significant renovations and plaza revitalization in the 2020s to restore historic features like the iconic tympanum and poppy mural. It also used to be the post office.

The Paseo de la Guerra is a complex of historic buildings in downtown Santa Barbara, California. The El Paseo was built in 1826, it’s an adobe complex which housed the Commandante of the Presidio Royale de Santa Barbara.

The Casa de la Guerra was the residence of the fifth commandant of the Presidio de Santa Barbara, José de la Guerra y Noriega, founder of the Guerra family of California from 1828 until his death in 1858. Descendants of José lived in the home until 1943.
