With all my passion for Rome, we will walk and talk about the history of Ancient Rome, its evolution, the context of the monuments we see today, all explained by archaeology, history and art history. First a brief introduction of Rome's history, and the main features of its art and architecture. Why, when and how everything was built will be discussed and contextualized.
Then we go to the monuments and see the Roman Forum, the Colosseum, the Palatine Hill, the 5 Imperial Forums, the Capitoline Hill Square, the Theater of Marcellus, Temple of Apollo and Porticus of Octavia.

Right next to the Theater of Marcellus, an amazing archaeological area we walk through and inside. This is the ending stop (in the heart of the former Ghetto area).

Marcellustheater
Unser letzter Punkt ist das zweite in Rom erbaute Theater, das Marcellustheater.
Wir werden sehen, wie, wann und warum es erbaut wurde. Die merkwürdige Verbindung, die es zum Kolosseum hat, und wie es in der Römerzeit, später und noch heute genutzt wird.

One of the triumphal arches still standing in Rome. We will see along the way the arches of Septimius Severus, Constantine and Titus.

Forum Romanum
Unterwegs zum Campidoglio-Platz, dem beeindruckenden, von Michelangelo entworfenen Platz, halten wir auf mehreren Terrassen, um das Forum Romanum mit seinen Triumphbögen, den Tempeln der Vesta, des Castor, Pollux und Saturn, dem römischen Senatsgebäude, Basiliken und vielem mehr zu besichtigen und zu besprechen.
Auf dem Platz bewundern wir die von Michelangelo entworfenen Paläste, die bronzene Reiterstatue des Kaisers Marcus Aurelius und weitere Skulpturen aus der Römerzeit und der Renaissance.

Among the Imperial Forums, the last and biggest one, hosting Trajan's Column, a marvel from Ancient Rome practically intact.

Augustusforum
After the Colosseum, we will visit the complex of the Imperial Forums. All the 5 Forums: Forum of Caesar, Forum of Augustus, Forum Peace, Forum of Nerva and the Forum of Trajan. An amazing complex of monuments.
Along the way we will see in detail the ruins, understand how they were built and why, and talk about characters of the Roman history and monuments, such basilicas, porticos, Trajan's Market, the Column of Trajan and museums aroud.
After that we will follow to the Capitoline Hill.
The offer here does not include going inside the monument or tickets for that.

Unser erster Halt ist das Kolosseum. Von beeindruckenden Aussichtspunkten aus können wir alle Details bewundern und seine Geschichte, Funktion, Bautechniken und vieles mehr besprechen.
Wir gehen nicht hinein, da dies die gesamte Tourzeit in Anspruch nehmen würde. Wir können die Tour so organisieren, dass sie an diesem Punkt endet, und die Gäste können hineingehen, nachdem sie alle Erklärungen und Informationen erhalten haben.
