Soon, we will reach Mount Irschenberg, the most stunning viewpoint you can experience from a German highway. This motorway route was constructed in the mid-1930s as a „panoramic motorway.“ These now unconventional paths were part of National Socialist propaganda: the beauty of the landscape was exploited by intentionally presenting it as a symbol of the „German Homeland.“

Dokumentationszentrum Obersalzberg
Schließlich machen wir Halt am „World War II Memorial and Educational Center“ für eine Audioführung durch die Ausstellung.
Die Dokumentation Obersalzberg ist ein Museum im Ferienort Obersalzberg bei Berchtesgaden, das Informationen über die Nutzung des Rückzugsorts am Berghang durch Nazi-Führer bietet, insbesondere Adolf Hitler, der sich ab 1928 regelmäßig in diesem Gebiet aufhielt. Das Museum wurde 1999 eröffnet und wurde bis 2007 von mehr als einer Million Menschen besucht.
