The journey from Hyderabad to Amrabad will take 3 hours

Step into one of South India's last great wildernesses on a jeep safari through Amrabad Tiger Reserve, a forest spanning over 2,600 square kilometres of the Nallamala hills. These tracks once served the Nizams of Hyderabad on their private hunts, and today they offer travelers a rare chance to move through a genuinely wild, largely unvisited landscape. Your naturalist guide reads the forest as you go, alarm calls from langurs, fresh tracks in the dust, the particular stillness that often precedes a predator's appearance, while you scan for tigers, leopards, Indian wolves, wild dogs, sloth bears, honey badgers and herds of chinkara, nilgai and blackbuck moving through the trees. Amrabad is home to one of the most diverse mammal populations of any tiger reserve in India, and while sightings are never guaranteed, the experience of traveling through a functioning wild ecosystem in late afternoon, when wildlife is most active, is extraordinary in itself.
