Rising from the mist-threaded hills between Demodara and Ella, the Nine Arch Bridge is one of the most photographed structures in Sri Lanka. Built entirely from brick, stone, and cement — not a single steel beam — this colonial-era viaduct has carried trains across a steep jungle ravine since 1921, and it shows no sign of yielding to the decades.
