The hike gets its name from the distinctive opening formed between two large rock buttresses. This hiking Table Mountain route starts behind the Lower Cableway Station, ascending steadily before joining the contour path. From here, the trail climbs a gully alongside Venster Buttress before reaching the “window”, a gap in the rocks framing Table Mountain views. As the route approaches the eastern side of the amphitheatre, the terrain steepens with easy scrambling. The adventure intensifies—staples and chains assist exposed sections.
