Visit the Pontifical Sanctuary of the Holy Stairs and learn the tradition that the steps were brought from Pontius Pilate’s praetorium in Jerusalem. Glimpse the Sancta Sanctorum and the revered image of Christ said to have been begun by St Luke and completed by angels. Pilgrims may climb the Holy Stairs on their knees independently after the tour.
