This world historical monument located at Mathale District of Sri Lanka. According to the Sri Lankan history, the king Kashyapa created this Lion's rock for hide from his brother's attacks. After the king's death the Sigiriya named as a Buddhist monastery until 14th century

According to ancient chronicles, Prince Kashyapa had killed his father King Dhatusena and fled to Sigiriya to find out a more secure place to prevent retaliation attacks from his half-brother, Mugalan. With the arrival of King Kashyapa, the Bhikkus who were meditated there were requested move to the nearby Pidurangala

Located near Habarana and Sigiriya, this park is a dry evergreen forest sanctuary offering 3-4 hour morning or evening safaris to spot herds, crocodiles, and diverse birdlife.
