During your journey, you’ll pass by the magnificent Campanile, an iconic landmark at the entrance to the railway station and docks on Strand Street. Built to commemorate the arrival of the 1820 British Settlers, this striking example of Italian architecture stands as a free-standing monument, leaving a lasting impression on Port Elizabeth’s historic landscape.

As you continue your journey, you’ll encounter the remarkable Alexandria Dune Field, one of South Africa’s natural wonders. This vast coastal dune system, the largest and least disturbed in the southern hemisphere, stretches over 80 km long and up to 5 km wide, covering around 15,800 hectares.
The shifting sands, continuously shaped by the wind, create an ever-changing landscape of boundless horizons and a unique sense of solitude. With an estimated 375,000 cubic tons of sand deposited each year, the Alexandria Dune Field is a mesmerizing, dynamic spectacle—a pristine example of South Africa’s coastal beauty not to be missed.
