The Colossi of Memnon, also known as el-Colossat or es-Salamat in Arabic, are comprised of two enormous stone statues portraying Pharaoh Amenhotep III from Egypt's Eighteenth Dynasty. These statues have stood for more than 3,400 years, dating back to 1350 BC, within the Theban Necropolis, located west of the River Nile, in the vicinity of modern Luxor.
